A home without a cat — and a well-fed, well-petted and properly revered cat — may be a perfect home, perhaps, but how can it prove title?
— Mark Twain (Samuel Clemens)

Thanks to this delightful interruption of regular proceedings, I had to take a week off from painting, and I put off writing this blog/newsletter as well. It’s all good, we all need to take a break sometimes, and what sweeter excuse could I wish for…
In fact, it couldn’t have come at a better time, because I finished my Into the Woods series, and I’m ready for a new series, but the ideas haven’t crystallized just yet.
All the more reason to keep this short and sweet. The painting above is one of my favorites in the series, because of the sense of movement in the leaves and grasses, but I also really enjoyed painting the watercolors inspired by the Plantage, a woodland area belonging to the castle Huis Bergh in ‘s Heerenberg.
