There’s something to be said for simplicity sometimes. I’m really happy with the feeling of space and air in this watercolor. You can almost feel the wind blow… I’m sure this is the result of giving just enough, but not too much information, something that is a lot harder to do than it sounds!
My recent studies – of which I’ll post a few more in the next day or two – are also excercises in simplicity. While they may serve as color or composition studies as well, the act of painting fast and small, often with a big brush, forces you to pare down the subject to its essentials.
