My daughter has started a new phase in life recently as a student of English Language and Literature at the University of Utrecht. For those of you not familiar with the geography of the Netherlands, Utrecht is just about the most central city in our country. From there, you can reach almost any destination within the Netherlands in a few hours by train or by car. Besides its central location, Utrecht is also a very loveable city and a great place to live. Think: Amsterdam without the tourists. The painting featured here was inspired by a visit to Utrecht a few months ago. I changed the original working title to “Passage” as it seems more appropriate to the subject, and to me it is also symbolic of my daughter’s passage into adult life. This Passage runs underneath the Dom tower, Utrecht’s cathedral and most famous landmark.
This small painting is still available from my shop.
