Watercolor Cats Birthday Calendar

Making art again

My summer was characterized by debilitating joint pains and fatigue, which turned out to be caused by an auto-immune disorder. Now that I’m getting appropriate medication, life is a whole lot better, and I’m happy to be making art again.

Watercolor Cats

One of the first things I did when going back into the studio after the summer was to paint a watercolor of our cat Loesje. Painting her reminded me of all the other watercolors of cats I’ve painted over the years. That in turn made me think it might be a nice idea to design another birthday calendar, this time one devoted to the theme of cats.

So that’s what I did, and here it is!

Till next time…

Next time I’ll share some of my recent watercolors and perhaps a few sketches. Let me know if that’s something you would enjoy.

Mineke, I love your work. I purchased one of your cat calendars and was so happy with it in person. The paper it is printed on alone gave me joy, never mind the magic serenity the cats impart. I originally bought it as a gift for my friend and it was hard to part with once I had it in my kitchen, but I took the high road and gave it to her and she loved it!

Thank you Thea, that’s wonderful to hear! I’m so glad to know that you liked it in person, and I hope your friend will enjoy it for many years to come. Because this is a perpetual calendar I decided to go for the heavier weight paper, and I find that people really appreciate that. The cats, of course, speak for themselves…

I’ve been reading your comments as I read through posts on Thea’s Charmed Studio blog. And so, I popped over here to have a better look at your cat calendar. You’re in the UK. Marvelous! I feel as though I’m visiting.
I love cats and calendars. Your paintings are lovely and capture the distinct personalities of the cats.

Thank you so much, Sharon! Glad you came over to visit. I’m not in the UK though, but just a hop across the pond in the Netherlands. I love cats and calendars too, that’s why I decided to make this calendar featuring cats I’ve encountered far and wide.
(By the way, sorry for the late reply – I never get notified when someone leaves a comment, so frustrating!)
