Compositie is de grondslag van je schilderwerk. Daarmee staat of valt het als het ware. Een sterke compositie geeft je de vrijheid om je werk naar eigen smaak en voorkeur in te vullen. Dit geldt voor alle media, maar zeker voor aquarel, omdat je in aquarel maar beperkt kunt corrigeren, dus is het beter om met een sterke compositie te beginnen. In deze workshop leer je stap voor stap een compositie op te zetten door positieve (het onderwerp) en negatieve (de achtergrond) vormen op een spannende manier te combineren. Met een goede compositie heb je meer vrijheid om die in te vullen met je persoonlijke voorkeur van kleur, lijn en textuur, en kun je licht en schaduw benutten om tot een mooi geheel te komen.
In het gezellige Atelier AquarEllen in het idyllische dorp Zwiggelte, hartje Drenthe, gaan we aan de slag met verf, water en papier.
Er zijn meerdere B&B’s in en om Zwiggelte als je er een weekendje Drenthe van wilt maken, wat ik zeker kan aanbevelen. Zin in?

IN ENGLISH:
Composition is the foundation of your painting. It determines failure or success, as it were. A strong composition gives you the freedom to add your own personal tastes and preferences to your work. This is true for all media, but it is especially important in watercolor, because there is limited scope for corrections, so it’s best to start out with a strong composition. In this workshop, you’ll learn to design a painting step-by-step by combining positive (the subject) and negative (the background) elements to achieve an exciting composition. This allows you to add your personal use of line, color, and texture, and to use sunlight and shadow to best advantage.
If you are in Holland in early March, or would like an excuse to come visit our country, we’ll be delighted if you join us! There are several lovely B&B’s in and around Zwiggelte if you’d like to extend your stay in Drenthe – highly recommended!
The workshop is 70 Euros, including lunch, coffee and tea, not including 1.50 Euros for materials (paper). We start at 10:30 AM and finish around 3:30 PM.
